Blending Functionality

Wachkeeping at night can put a lot of stress on the crew causing fatigue. Groke Pro features two cameras: a day camera and a thermal night camera. Grokes unique blending functionality enables combining views from each camera. As a result, at night-time, you get a view with lights from the day camera and the objects detected with the thermal camera. Users can easily adjust the level of blending emphasizing either the day or night camera.

Sensor Unit

The main component in Groke Pro is the sensor unit. It's specifically engineered for maritime environment by Groke Technologies. The unit integrates sensors such as double GNSS, IMU and AIS receiver. The unit also houses the two cameras of Groke Pro: a regular camera and a thermal night camera.

Central Unit

Central Unit is the heart of the system. It has the needed computing power for sensor fusion, object detection and classification models. It is built according to maritime engineering standards and uses marine type approved components where possible.

User Interface Devices

Groke Pro's user interace offers the best user experience in the market. As a standard option, Groke Pro is delivered with a tablet based user interaface utilizing iPad Pro tablet. 27" fixed display is available as an option. Groke Pro supports up to three displays.

Sensor Unit

The main component in our system is the sensor unit. The unit is specifically engineered and made for maritime situation awareness use by Groke Technologies. Unit includes integrated sensors such as double GNSS, inertial measurement unit, AIS receiver and most important are the two camera entities, one with 225 degrees field of view with day camera and the other with 180 degrees field of view with thermal camera.

Central Unit is the heart of the system, it hosts the computing power of sensor fusion and our object detection and classification models. It is built according to maritime engineering standards and uses marine type approved components where possible.

User Interface Devices

User interface is the pinnacle element of Groke Pro system for the user. As standard with Groke Pro solution we deliver tablet based user interface utilizing iPad Pro tablet. Customer can also choose to use our 27" fixed display which we offer as additional option to our system.
In one Groke Pro system we can supporting utilisation of up to three user interface devices.

Sensor Fusion - How it works

Groke Technologies awareness system collects information from multiple sources. The difference of the developed system towards as systems today are presented in the diagram below. For visual confirmation, the system uses a wide field of view cameras with day and night vision. Object detection happens by utilizing machine vision for day and thermal camera images. Additional information about other objects is received from radar (optional add-on integration) and AIS. To identify your own vessel position and movements GNSS and Inertial Measurement Units (IMU) are used. Sea charts identify the vessel’s geolocation position.
Sensor fusion is the probabilistic mix of data from multiple sources such as described above.

Groke’s forte lies in combining all the above-mentioned via sensor fusion and track fusion offering. This offers both onshore and offshore users the most accurate and reliable understanding of their surroundings via a single view user interface. This results in reduced navigation stress and peace of mind during the operation in all kinds of conditions, regardless of vessel type.
Groke’s awareness system, Groke Pro, puts all the information in one single UI, giving an accurate and reliable picture of nearby vessels’ location, speed, and trajectories and other objects that can be taught for the system utilizing AI.
As mentioned above, the users of the system enjoy a unique user interface, providing only relevant information to help navigation and watchkeeping.

Real Life Sensor Fusion Examples

Groke Pro Installation

Groke Pro installation onboard is straight forward and due to the stand alone nature of the standard solution it is ideal as retrofit to existing vessels and also to new buildings.

Preferred installation location for sensor unit on tug boats is either mast or on compass deck above bridge. The central unit shall be installed in close vicinity to bridge into an air conditioned  or well ventilated space.

Preferred installation location for sensor unit on tankers is in non-EX/ATEX locations meaning either mast or on compass deck above bridge. The central unit shall be installed in close vicinity to bridge into an air conditioned or well ventilated  space.

Preferred installation location for sensor unit on cargo vessels is either mast or on compass deck above bridge. The central unit shall be installed in close vicinity to bridge into an air conditioned or well ventilated space.

Preferred installation location for sensor unit on large and ultra large vessels is either mast or on compass deck above birdge. On larger vessels there is also the possibility of installing the sensor unit to fore mast but this needs to reviewed case by case. The central unit shall be installed in close vicinity to bridge into an air conditioned  or well ventilated space.

Sensor Fusion - How it works?

Groke Pro Awareness System collects information from multiple sources. The system uses two wide-field-of-view cameras with day and night vision. Objects around the vessel are detected by utilizing Machine Vision technology for the day and thermal camera images. Additional information about the detected objects is received from radar and AIS. GNSS, IMU and Sea Charts are used to identify your own vessel position and movements

Groke’s Sensor Fusion technology combines data from all the above-mentioned sensors. The information based on the processed data provides the most accurate and reliable understanding of the surroundings of the vessel. All information is clearly presented on an intuitive tablet-based interface.
